  • What are the general barn etiquette rules?
Respect all horses and handlers—don’t touch or feed a horse that isn’t yours. Clean up after yourself and your horse (cross-ties, grooming areas, wash racks, etc.). Keep voices and behavior calm around horses—no yelling, running, or rough play. Don’t block aisles or gates—be mindful of others working around you. Follow posted signs and staff instructions at all times. Park only in designated areas for Barn 7.
  • Can I bring friends or family to the barn?

  • What are Equitation Clubs at AMP Stables & Boarding?
Equitation Clubs are structured educational programs designed for kids and teens who want to learn about horses—both in the saddle and on the ground. These clubs combine horsemanship, barn management, equine science, and riding instruction in a fun, supportive environment. No prior experience is necessary. We currently offer: Equitation Club (Thursdays): Our original weekly club meets on Thursdays all year long, from 9:00 AM–12:30 PM and is ideal for homeschoolers and families with flexible schedules. Students engage in structured lessons that include horse care, grooming, feeding, tack handling, and mounted instruction. Educational topics include equine anatomy, behavior, tack identification, and foundational barn management and riding. Summer Equitation Club (June): Held Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM–2:30 PM. This extended version of our regular club offers deeper engagement through rotating riding days, guest speakers, games, and themed lessons. Students may sign up by the day or week. School Holiday Clubs: Offered on select school break days and holidays throughout the year. These multi-day sessions mirror our regular club structure and are perfect for keeping kids active, learning, and off screens during school closures.
  • What topics are covered in Equitation Club?
Each session includes both riding and unmounted education. Topics include grooming, tacking, feeding, barn chores, horse anatomy, behavior, tack identification, equine health, and basic first aid. Lessons often tie in science, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Will my child ride every week?
Yes, riding is part of our weekly curriculum, weather and safety permitting. Students typically ride in small groups for about 20 minutes and rotate through groundwork or barn activities when not mounted.
  • My child has never been around horses. Can they still join?
Absolutely! Equitation Club is beginner-friendly and we tailor instruction to meet students where they are, whether they’ve never touched a horse or already know their way around the barn.
  • Do kids need to bring their own helmet or gear?
Nope! We provide helmets for students who don’t have one. Riders must wear long pants and closed-toed shoes, preferably boots. No open-toed shoes, sandals, Crocs are allowed in the barn.
  • Do I have to commit to every week?
No. Equitation Club is a pay-as-you-go program, though discounts are available for full-month sign-ups. We do ask that you register in advance so we can plan groups, supplies, and staffing.
  • How is safety handled?
All Club activities are supervised by experienced equine professionals. We follow strict barn safety rules and teach horse handling with a focus on awareness and respect. Students are taught how to safely lead, groom, and tack up horses before riding.
  • Can I use Step Up funds?
Yes! We are a direct provider for Florida's Step Up, both the Personalized Education Program (PEP) & Unique Abilities (UA). If you're using PEP funds, make sure to note that on your registration form. Receipts can also be provided for reimbursement submission.
